THE MOVEMENT IS MOVING! ALL STAR TRIO ONE SESSION PULLS HIP-HOP BACK TO ITS UNDERGROUND ROOTS VIA A GRITTY 'HIDDEN TREASURE' DEDICATED TO
RESTORING THE GENRE TO ITS ORIGINAL FORM

One Session's Lineup Features Famed Emcees/Producers Minus One, Cringe, both founding members of Da Nayborhoodz, and Tristate, Who has Tracked With the likes of Ras Kass, King T, Xzhibit and DJ Khalil.

Da Noise in Suburbia is getting louder, grimy, more street and, most importantly, restored with the signing of One Session to the label. Get ready to see a revolution with their off the chain, chomping at the bit debut Bobby B Presents...The Hidden Treasures vol. 1, January 31st, 2006.

More than just a disc featuring a new lineup of legendary West Coast favorites stirring a mix of hip hop, rock, old school soul and blues, it's about a new movement, a new wave of hip-hop bubbling in the underground that's bringing things back around. Produced collectively by One Session, The Hidden Treasures was largely arranged and scratched by Bobby B.

"One Session is about restoring hip-hop back to its original form, a mixture based on a foundation of melodic production and pure lyricism by the three of us," says Tristate. "From my point of view, we all came together and found an immediate special chemistry that makes for the compelling factor behind the music. I've been in a lot of other situations and musical organizations, and with all due respect to those outfits, sometimes there's just not that connection. With these cats, with Minus One and Tristate, I've got that visceral type feeling that leads to that deep impact. The more you listen, the more you'll gravitate towards our sound," says Cringe.

Minus One adds it up this way, "It's been a long time in hip-hop since you had a movement with this kind of force. You can't really create this kind of situation. The way anyone else makes a classic hip-hop record is how we made this one, starting in a home environment. The mutual love of music is the way we spawned. I met Tristate through close friends, he liked the same kind of music I did, so we started working together. In hip-hop, you can tell right away when you put your poetry over the beats if it's a good fit. It's like dating, sometimes the sex is good and sometimes it's not. But when you meet the right person, you'll know it as soon as ya'll start f***ing," adds Tristate.

Minus One, Tristate and Cringe all agree that Bobby B was the one who helped them pull it all together to unvail this "Hidden Treasure" into one phat and lethal package. This trio’s colorful past and hardcore accolades added to the process of creating various gems on this project. "Bobby B came into the circle and recognized our potential right away," says Minus. "He was like the guy going through the crates, sorting through relics to find the jewel he knew was hiding inside. That's the meaning of The Hidden Treasures.

The conceptual song titled "If This Were" captures that connection between Bobby B and One Session perfectly. The intro finds the trio getting into B's ride and taking off while a hypnotic soul sample rattles out of his super sound system. Another hidden treasure produced by Suburban Noize engineer Patrick Shevelin, "Listen Up," gives the listener the experience of London-styled pirate music. Shevelin's twist on the UK sound movement mixes hip-hop with two step and some industrial sounds. On the streets of Europe folks call it "grime music." The song features vocalist Onique Williams singing the chorus. Another featured vocalist/emcee B-Rhaka appears on the song "Change Things," which taps into the group's theme of repairing hip-hop's roots.

At its core, One Session is the brainchild of hip-hop emcees Minus One, Tristate, and producer Cringe. While this might be One Session's debut, the members' resumes speak volumes. Tristate's blend of street conscious lyrics and real life subject matter has been making waves throughout the hip-hop community since 1992. Working with the likes of Tha Alkaholiks, Xzhibit, King T, DJ Khalil (Dr. Dre, Raekwon, G-Unit), Sa-Ra and a host of other heavy hitters from the West Coast, Tristate has made a mark in a crowded scene.

Cringe, a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, was an instrumental member of Da Nayborhoodz. Meanwhile, his partner in beats, Minus One, a founding member and emcee in that group, was crafting his own street anthems. Armed with an MPC and an extensive collection of vinyl, the two dedicated themselves to daily routine of working in the lab concocting what would become the One Session formula. With each member making waves in the hip-hop scene, it was only a matter of time before they would cross paths.

"I had heard of some of the things Minus and Cringe were doing, so when they invited me down to the studio I knew we would click instantly," says Tristate about the formation of the group.  "With the three of us in the studio, there was just this energy that I've never felt before; it was amazing."

With the foundation for One Session firmly cemented, the group received a huge boost when DJ Bobby B heard the new demo and offered to help sign the group to Suburban Noize Records.

Bobby B recalls, "I called up Minus just to catch up, and he told me about One Session, I immediately asked for a demo. The second I heard the demo I knew it was something I had to be involved with."

One Session is the latest addition to an ever-growing musical movement created by Suburban Noize Records. The label has brought together thousands of free-thinking individuals who exist outside of the mainstream  and bonded them through the power of music. Their movement is an undeniable force in the world of underground hip-hop and has garnished attention from everyone such as Billboard, Rolling Stone.com, MTV.com, Hustler, Sirius Satellite Radio, Campus Circle and countless others.

"We're not out to change the world with our music, but we are trying to elevate hip-hop to a higher level than what's out there right now," says Minus One. "I don't think there's anyone out there is doing this kind of thing within the hip-hop scene. Everyone's talking about bling-bling and here we are trying to make art through our music. We've got a heavy arsenal and once we release it to the world, it'll forever remain. It's great to see that the movement is moving."
